The Beat Brunch 2024: A celebration of 15 amazing years!

You might not be as inclined as much with radio stations because of ‘traditional media decline’ but you cannot deny the knowledge of one of Nigeria’s leading radio stations, The Beat 99.9FM. You either have to be offshore Nigeria or off Lagos to not have knowledge of this radio station and yes, you’re being judged for that.

On a windy Saturday, the 7th of September, 2024, The Beat 99.9 FM in collaboration with Sony Music hosted the ‘littest’ brunch event in Lagos, Nigeria, at the Wings Complex, Ozumba Mbadiwe, in celebration of 15 years of exceptional broadcasting within West Africa and their contribution to the Nigerian music industry, through immaculate airing of trending music through their radio airwaves.

In what seemed to be like a slow run to the start of the event as at exactly 2pm, and the gradual buildup of guests, The Beat Brunch began to take off within the space of an hour through the turntables of DJ Obi, DJ NTY, and DJ DayZee, with soft party tunes sieving through the speakers.

If you were anything like this writer who by the way, was present at the brunch, the event was quick to escalate with things swinging in full motion, the music intensifying, Tosan Wiltz, a Beat FM presenter hyping his way through the rather quiet crowd amidst gatherings of twos and threes, and the brunch eventually becoming a gathering full with drinks, food and good music – and networking if one might add.

Here’s a breakdown of the event in case you missed it – it was a gathering of beautiful and handsome faces, inclusive of well known personalities within the broadcast and music industry at large with faces such as CKay, Skales, Producer X, Morravey, amongst other influential faces present at the event. It was most spectacular how loved they were through  the lenses of the media present at the event.

It was blissful to see the many faces in attendance of the event, showing how much impact and reputation The Beat FM has wielded through the years. Your opinion might be yours but within this community, there is the assertion that The Beat FM remains the number one radio station in Lagos, Nigeria.

The collaboration between Sony Music and The Beat FM was to display the enormous community which both empires have built and the buildup of the crowd into the night of the brunch event showed how much impact has gone into the entertainment community.

Ranging from the capable presenters of The Beat FM; Osi Suave, TaymiB to Bibi Raii, Tosan Wilts and forces to be reckoned with within the Nigerian music industry such as Joey Akan, the event was packed to the brim with good music, merry chatters and clicks of cameras at smiling faces.

Music performances glistened the event from Ayo Maff to Ajebutter22 to Oxlade to Morravey, amongst other prominent artists, Melody not M.I.A warming the crowd up to an ecstatic level, the beat brunch which started within the year 2022 was no different from amazing; with yet another brunch milestone surpassed.

If you missed the 2024 Beat Brunch, it’s okay — there’s always a 2025 chance.
